Mothers Day

I had a fantastic Mothers Day. I LOVE this picture. It's probably not the best "quality" picture in the world but I really love it. Sis adores her brother and won't let him out of her sight when he's here. I was worried about how him moving out last summer would affect their closeness and it hasn't at all. I absolutely love watching them together and it seems like they get closer and closer. It's a beautiful thing to watch. Only problem is he laughs at everything she does and trust me she doesn't need the encouragement!
I didn't get anything fancy or do anything fancy for Mothers Day but it was a nearly perfect day. The only thing that could have made it better was Meg being home all day, she had to work and missed lunch. Michael got here early though so I did have a little time with them all together and they gave me my big huge poster board card, best one so far. We just talked and watched the kids play and ate lunch then I took a nap. I can't wait until next year when Mellie is running around with the rest of the kids.

Easter!

Here's my crew on Easter Sunday. All the kids were here for lunch and it was sooo nice. Britney was here for the egg hunt but had to go on to her folks for lunch and to see her grandma at the nursing home.

Winter Colds, Cold Weather

Well, we all have a yucky winter cold, yes yucky, I've been a mom for 20 years and the best way I know to describe it is yucky. Fevers, runny noses, some chills, no sleep, coughing and LOTS and LOTS of snot, so YUCKY!! Hopefully it is about to run it's course right out the door, it is showing signs of winding down.

I think it would be easier to tolerate these colds if we could open our windows in to let in some lovely spring air. However, its January in IL and its 12 degrees outside so that is NOT an option. I can NOT wait until spring.

Since Sis has been sick she has developed a genuine love of Shrek. Everyone on the house can quote everyline to the orignal movie. Fortunately we found Shrek 2 and 3 over the weekend and have been able to shake things up a little. Her fave part in 3 is "the pooking baby" ( puking baby.)

Off to wipe noses, because PS the little fella I watch has the same cold and him and Sis are currently wiping snot across their cheeks while Mommy/Steffie is playing on the computer.

PS Hope to be back later today with some info about my now 20 year old son and baby Ella.

We're having a............................................

Healthy baby girl!!! Mothers intuition right again. Still deciding on several names but the leader so far is Mishelle Faith, to be called Ella. Everyone is very excited, including big brother.

I'm thankful, thankful she's healthy and as always thankful for all of my blessings from God.

Editing this on November 6th to let everyone know her name is Melanie Faith and she is almost 5 months old.

Winter Update

Well, since I last wrote we've had Christmas, which was wonderful. Christmas vacation, also wonderful, and 2 birthdays, Missy is officially a teenager and I'm 38.

First things first. Christmas was really nice, this was our second year having our own celebration in our own home on Christmas day. On Christmas Eve we go to our close friends/adopted family for the evenings which we love! Anyway, instead of a huge spread I made everyones favorite plus a ham. Michael and Kadie LOVE spicy taco dip, Megs fruit pizza, Missy's noodles and Mikes macaroni salad with big chunks of cheddar cheese. Maddi's favorite seemed to be the ham and the noodles. Michael came bright and early, just missed the opening of the presents but did get here right after.

For Missys birthday she had 3 of her best friends stay for a junk food eating movie watching giggling night of fun.

For my birthday I spent the day window shopping and out to eat with my girls. It was such a good time. Complete craziness at Old Navy with Sis tired of shopping, Meg trying to pick me out clothes and Missy and Kadie helping "chase" Sis, it was hilarious!! I love getting older and watching my family grow, what a blessing!

Michael is the next birthday, he will be 20 on the 22nd. I'm planning on throwing together a lasagne for him and running it to him for supper. He's had a rough couple weeks. His super sweet and smart lab Mac, had to be put down due toThey are doing fine now and actually have a new puppy named lymphoma. I'm proud of them for making the responsible decision. He has taken and passed his GED, is working at Farm & Home store and plans on taking college classes starting in August.

So far all is well with Mikes job despite the recession and we just ask for prayers that it continues to be. I'm still staying home and I love it. I might pick up a few weekends as a nurse this time next year, but not before then. Hmmmmmm, I wonder why????

That brings me to my next update, for those of you that don't already know we are having our 6th (and yes this one will be the baby) Smith sometime around June 17th. I will be 18 weeks tomorrow and that's also when I'll be going for my ultrasound. We are VERY excited about this and can't wait to meet him or her. I think her. Hopefully along with finding out we're having another healthy baby we will find out the answer to that question also.

So, be looking for the next update. I will say again that I'd like to start blogging more, and that is my intention, but, we will see.

Quirky Things

Ok, I've been tagged by my cousin Rochelle to do this Quirky things thing. So here goes, better late then never I hope!

1. I can pick things up with my toes, and do often, it's especially useful while doing housework, for example rescuing a stray sock from the vacuum, I can also pinch very hard with them.

2. I'm terrified, absolutely ridiculously terrified of tornadoes.

3. I also like ketchup on my eggs and potatoes.

4. I keep my car clock set 20 minutes early at all times so I'm never late.

5. I sleep better if my Bible is next to me or under my pillow.

6. I obsessively check to make sure the smoke alarms are on and working.
